  Al Udeid Base's strategic importance after Iran's attack Tensions are rising again in the Middle East, and Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base is back in the global spotlight. Iran’s missile attack has highlighted the base’s strategic role and the surrounding geopolitical dynamics. What happened: Iran’s attack on Al-Udeid On June 23, Iran launched a missile attack on Al-Udeid airbase, which was in response to the attacks on the US nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. According to Qatari officials, 19 missiles were fired, 18 were intercepted, and one missile hit the base, but no one was injured. Iran has called the attack a “right of self-defense” under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The US and Qatar confirmed that no one was harmed, which was due to advance warning and evacuation.
